Greatham Village Greatham Feast

Greatham Feast

A village tradition held since the 15th Century

Greatham Feast has been held in the village since the 15th Century to help bring the community together.  It was initiated as a celebration of the birthday of St John the Baptist on June 24th.   Now, over 500 years later, the Feast continues with a four day programme of activities with something for everyone.

Events include darts and dominoes, yard of ale, pensioners tea party, children’s five-a-side and baby show as well as the traditional church service at the parish church of St John the Baptist.  The main event takes place on Saturday afternoon when everyone descends on the village green after a grand fancy dress parade.  The green will be lined with amusements and stalls and a barbecue will feed the hungry visitors.  In the evening a local live band entertain the crowds on the village green.
